by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: International episode 453. Erk is preparing to head overseas again but the music continues here on Erk FM: International. All music on this episode supplied by AirPlay Direct.

  • Another Side/Tell Me
  • Morning Morgantown
  • Moonshiner
  • I'm Over You

Erk FM: Metal Monday 139 – The Final Countdown

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: Metal Monday episode 139. Erk is counting down for his next overseas trip shortly and this will be the last episode recorded in the studio. Erk will be away all of June but there will be episodes ready for you every Monday that he is away. On this episode, there are various songs that are listed as being in the Jamendo Top 10 chart for Metal. To constrast, Erk has a look at the Australian metal charts at the start of the episode (source: Reverbnation), only featuring artists he has featured on Erk FM: Metal Monday before.

Song list (all times are approximate):

Erk FM: Australia 452 – Standing By To Fly Away

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: Australia episode 452. Erk features some new releases from artists promoted by SGC Media as well as some tracks that have been played before. It is always interesting to Erk to see what bands he has featured (and interviewed) have been up to recently. This week's episode totally by chance seems to have an indigenous theme!

Song list (all times are approximate):

Erk FM: International 451 – Random Jam Jam

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: International episode 451. On this episode, Erk decides to hand control over to a random stream ensuring a variety of tunes courtesy of Jamendo. The episode starts with some electronica, there's lounge music in the middle & then some rock to kick it home at the end - or least that is what the plan was!

Song list (all times are approximate):

Erk FM: Metal Monday 138 – Erk To The Penalty Box

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: Metal Monday episode 138. On this episode, Erk is doing something a little different. If you have been following Erk on social media, you will know that he is now a huge ice hockey fan both in Australia (yes, there is an Australian league!) & North America. One of the teams he is supporting is looking for music to play during breaks of play for the crowd. As listeners to Erk FM know but the local hockey community doesn't, Erk knows a lot of unsigned bands who would love to have their music heard by an arena full of people.

All music supplied by the artists.

    Song list:

Erk FM: Australia 450 – Front & Centre

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: Australia episode 450. On this episode, Erk features some bands that he has seen live that have really made an impression on him as he celebrates another milestone. There are plenty of great Australian bands out there who are doing their best to have their music heard. Erk has seen all of these bands live and has various levels of involvement with the bands since meeting them.

All music supplied by the artists directly.

Erk FM: International 449 – Random Jam

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: International episode 449. On this episode, Erk decides to hand control over to a random stream ensuring a variety of tunes courtesy of Jamendo. There's a tiny bit of world music to start, rock, pop, electro & a couple of bad jokes by Erk.

Erk FM: Metal Monday 137 – Mr Platinum Is Back From Perth & Still Has Whiplash

by Shawn

Welcome to episode 137 of Erk FM: Metal Monday. Erk has just arrived back home from a quick weekend away in Perth & remembered the episode where he interviewed 2 Western Australian bands at the 2012 Whiplash festival. Originally recorded as Erk FM: Metal Monday episode 62 (seems like so long ago!), Erk is on the road on his first metal tour as media. He has had a busy schedule of flights & long days/nights at gigs. If that's not enough, he also has a case of pink eye!

This is the penultimate gig of the Whiplash Festival tour which was held at The Basement in Canberra. With 2 stages running, there was a lot of music blasting out with local Canberra bands joining the tourers.

  Interviews:

  • Devour The Matyr
  • Prescient

Live tracks from the following bands (as recorded by Erk):

Erk FM: Australia 448 – Feeling 300

by Shawn

Welcome to episode 448 of Erk FM: Australia. Due to some technical issues and poor song choice and limited time, Erk re-presents episode 300 of Erk FM: Australia. This is a celebration episode as it is a milestone episode. So to celebrate, Erk has a couple of guests - it is even better when said guests help with the playlist! Guests on this episode are Shawno & Jen from San Luis Obispo who are long term friends of Erk FM. Their previous podcasts include Hyper Nonsense and Gemini Dragon with their latest venture being a multimedia portal (including podcasts) called No Market.  For this special occasion, Shawno & Erk have worked on the playlist separately and there are videos below for most songs.  If you watch the videos in real time like Shawno & Jen did, you'll understand what we discuss when it comes to the videos.
Music supplied by SGC Media, Heapsaflash & the artists directly.
Song list (as selected by Erk):

Erk FM: International 447 – Easing In

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: International episode 447. Erk is still recovering from his unicorn bite but is back in the studio for a full podcast episode. Some of the music on this episode was also used on this week's episode of Erk FM: Metal Monday as Erk strayed a little from straight up metal. Erk is working through his never-ending list of submissions. There are also a couple of videos for you to watch on the shownotes for the episode.

Music supplied by the artists directly.

    Song list (all times approximate):

Erk FM: Metal Monday 136 – Easing In

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: Metal Monday episode 136. Erk is recovering from his unicorn bite (a little slower than expected) but has some hard rock, goth, punk & metal for you this episode from various parts of the world. It was enjoyable to come back even if there were some issues that you'll never know existed!

Music supplied by Ambicon Music Group, AF Music, Asher Media Relations & the artists directly.

    Song list:

Erk FM: Australia 446 – Recovering From A Unicorn Bite

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: Australia episode 446. Erk is still recovering from what he is calling a unicorn bite. This episode was originally recorded as Erk FM episode 35 in September 2009. For something different, Erk started what he called the 2009 Erk FM Musical United Nations Tour opening in Australia. It was a different way to present a series of episodes - it was made to sound like a concert rather than an episode of a music podcast.

All music for the tour supplied by Jamendo. Theme music for this tour series is "Around the World" by Natalie Brown (extracts used with permission). You can hear the song in full on episode 34 of Erk FM. Ambient noise obtained from The Free Sound Project. Concert tickets from Concert Ticket Maker.

  Song list:

Erk FM: International 445 – Still Recovering From A Unicorn Bite

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: International episode 445. Erk is still recovering from his unicorn bite so this is a replay of Erk FM: International episode 279. During the recording of episode 277, Erk was offered some new tracks of a band that he has played previously after being pinged on Twitter. This will lead to Erk giggling like a 13 year old boy (thank you, Randy!)  as well as more tracks from new (to Erk FM) music supplier Road King Entertainment. It's a real mixed bag on this episode with a bit of a southern Texas twang!

Music supplied by Road King Entertainment & the artists directly.

  Song list:

Erk FM: Metal Monday 135 – Recovering From A Unicorn Bite

by Shawn

Welcome to episode 135 of Erk FM: Metal Monday. Erk is still recovering from his unicorn bite but is recovering. One of his favourite episodes of  Erk FM: Metal Monday was episode 49 which was recorded on location at the Bald Faced Stag in inner western Sydney. This episode features interviews with at least 2 members of each band as well as parts of their sets recorded live by Erk.

Tensions Arise were launching their latest CD, Stand In Defiance. They were recently back from the US recording the CD as well as playing a show in New York. At the time of recording episode 135, Tensions Arise are touring Japan. Will we see Tensions on Border Security any time soon?

Not Another Sequel Just Another Prequel had recently launched their album with Tensions Arise for support and now NASJAP are returning the favour. Vocalist Acey is always ready for a chat - what dramas does Erk cause the band this time? Soon, they will also be touring Japan (separately from Tensions Arise).

Fresh from seeing them on Dead of Winter 2012 in Brisbane, Frankenbok have been continuing to play regional shows when they aren't playing in Melbourne....

Erk FM: Australia 444 – Severe Pain Makes Erk Something Something (repeat Erk FM episode 46)

by Shawn

Welcome to a Erk FM: Australia episode 444. Erk is in severe pain due to a leg infection so is not in a position to produce a full episode of Erk FM: Australia this week. You will hear what was originally Erk FM episode 46 from November 2009 where the episode was programmed by Will Alexander from Queensland promoters Heapsaflash

  Song list:

Erk FM: International 443 – Severe Pain Makes Erk Something Something (repeat first Erk FM: International episode)

by Shawn

Welcome to episode 443 of Erk FM: International. Due to Erk being in severe pain due to a leg infection, Erk decided to bring you a repost of the very first episode of Erk FM: International, Erk FM: International episode 197. Erk FM started in January 2009 as a podcast featuring music from around the world every Friday. During Erk's Europe trip in 2011, he decided to separate Australian music to create Erk FM: Australia (even numbered episodes on Fridays) and then Erk FM: International (odd numbered episodes, Wednesdays).

Music supplied by Ambicon RecordsAssociation Of Music PodcastingBoss Jam RecordsDeuce Management & Promotion & the artists directly.

  Song list:

Erk FM: Metal Monday 134 – Severe Pain Make Erk Something Something (repeat episode 1)

by Shawn

Due to Erk being in severe pain & being unable to record an episode of Erk FM: Metal Monday this week, Erk replays Erk FM: Metal Monday episode 1 recording in October 2011.

This week's episode features music that Erk was exposed to during his 2011 European trip as well as music that Erk has used to promote the show prior to the launch of this episode. Music supplied by AirPlay Direct & also the artists directly (used with permission).

The introductory voice at the start of the episode is Michael, vocalist for Sydney band Amodus.

  Song list:

Erk FM: International 441 – Shaking Up The Americana

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: International episode 441. On this episode, Erk continues with last week's female artist theme. Starting across the ditch from Erk in New Zealand, the episode then moves to Portland (Keep it weird, Portland!) and Colorado. There's a nice variety of music on this episode even though we stay in Americana territory.   Music supplied by Airplay Direct.

Erk FM: Metal Monday 133 – Happy Metal, Smiley Face

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: Metal Monday episode 133. On this week's episode, there's some more great North American metal and as an added bonus, there's even some videos for you to enjoy if you go to the episode's shownotes on the Erk FM: Metal Monday website!

There's so much metal out there that's about death & destruction but on this episode, there's also some humorous songs - some people might describe the songs as nerdcore.

Erk FM: Australia 440 – Wall To Wall Ladies

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: Australia episode 440. It has been a while since Erk has produced an Erk FM: Australia episode with multiple artists as an all female episode. This was not by design but just the way it turned out. In a couple of cases, the artists were born overseas but relocated to Australia which more than qualifies them to be featured on this episode.

All music supplied by AirPlay Direct.

  Song list (all times approximate):

Erk FM: International 439 – Erk Feels Like Chicken Tonight

There's also (finally!) a link between the Homer Simpson soundbyte in the theme music and one of the bands on this week's episode. And just for the sake of it & totally not required, there's some cowbell. (Go Winterhawks!)

Erk FM: Metal Monday 132 – O Canadian Metal

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: Metal Monday episode 132. Erk is back in the Erk FM: Metal Monday studio & is wading through his submissions that he received while overseas. Erk is learning & hearing a lot about the Canadian metal scene, partly from Canadians who excelled in the field of being Canadian at 70000 Tons of Metal and partly thanks to Asher from Asher Media Relations.

All music supplied by Asher Media Relations & used with permission.

  Song list:

Erk FM: Australia 438 – Halfway To Darwin

by Shawn

Welcome to Erk FM: Australia episode 438. Erk is back in the Erk FM: Australia studio after his epic overseas trip & has a lot of Australian music in his submission queue.

On this episode, Erk features several songs from 2 artists courtesy of SGC Media.

The episode opens with Brisbane band Halfway. Some of the foundation members are from Rockhampton in central Queensland. Eventually with the addition of some further members from Brisbane & Ireland, the band is now complete as an 8 piece band.

The second track of this week's episode features Tom E Lewis. Erk has not had an easy time finding indigenous Australian Aboriginal music so when Tom's new album came to Erk's attention, he knew that it had to be featured. Tom is an actor & a musician who lives in the Northern Territory.

SGC Media represented artists feature predominate on this episode & then the episode climaxes with a couple of Erk FM favourites who Erk has seen live since being back in Australia.

Music supplied by SGC Media & the artists directly.

  Song list (all times approximate):

Erk FM: International 437 – Studio Time, Mr Wayne!

by Erk

Welcome to Erk FM: International episode 437. Erk is now back in the Erk FM: International studio & wading through his long list of submissions during his recent holiday. Erk is starting with submissions directly from the artists. In addition to Erk's long trip overseas, a highlight was meeting up with fellow music podcaster Justin Wayne from The Justin Wayne Show. Justin interviewed Erk from the Main Street Studios in Walla Walla & the interview was originally featured on episode 225 of Justin's show.

All music supplied directly by the artist.

  Song list (all times approximate):

Erk FM: Metal Monday 131 – 70000 Tons Of Metal (Part 5)

by Erk

Welcome to Erk FM: Metal Monday episode 131. This is the final week of Erk FM: Metal Monday's coverage of 2014's 70000 Tons of Metal. This week's episode starts with The Entity by Temtris - another song off their newly released album Shallow Grave. Next on the playlist are a couple of metal bands from western Sydney who will be touring Japan in the near future. Tensions Arise (In The Eye Of Fire) were first to announce their visit followed by a more recent announcement from Not Another Sequel Just Another Prequel (What Is Love).

The final track of this episode was obtained onbroad 70000 Tons of Metal & was the only CD that Erk left the ship with at the end of the cruise.
