Channel Erk

This page shows you some of the equipment that Erk is currently using for Channel Erk. When Erk started podcasting, he started with a digital voice recorder. Then he brought a laptop with USB headset/microphone. After around 40 Erk Pod episodes, he brought a Podcasting package by Behringher with one microphone and a one channel mixer. After episode 65, Erk replaced the one channel mixer with a two channel mixer in December 2007. In October 2008, Erk brought the current Yamaha MG124C 12 channel mixer. This mixer is really handy because it has on/off switches for each channel.

Computer wise, Erk used an Asus laptop for over 2 years. It has been recently replaced with a desktop PC. During his US trip, Erk used an Asus eee PC for editing and the Zoom H4 with Shure mics for recording episodes.

Erk uses RecordPad to record and WavePad to edit (both by NCH Software). To music music, promos and themes, Erk now uses PodProducer (available free). Until recently, he used Soundbyte for the same purpose.

In the studio currently (January 2010), we have:

  • Tower PC and a 23 inch monitor
  • Yamaha MG124C 12 channel mixer
  • 2 X Behringer C1 Studio microphones
  • 2 X Behringer Studio headphones
  • Behringer headphone amplifier
  • Anastacia the Erk Pod Nabaztag Bunny

For mobile/outdoor use, Erk uses a Zoom H4 Digital Voice Recorder with Shure PG48 & PG58 microphones. The Shure microphones with extra headphones can be used in the studio also for extra guests.
